STEPHENVILLE, Texas — From criminal justice studies to dental equipment sales to graduate school, Eric Swarvar likes to keep growing in new directions.

The flexibility of Tarleton State Online allowed Eric Swarvar to pursue his MBA while juggling work and family.

But forging new pathways while juggling a job and family can get complicated. That’s why Swarvar chose to pursue his MBA through Tarleton State University’s online program after hearing about the option from a friend.

“The time commitment as a father and husband is what really drove me to seek an online education,” said Swarvar.

He said that with Tarleton State Online, the hours were flexible, the financial investment was reasonable and that the program is supported by a reputable university and system.

“Being an online program, the content was available to my schedule and lifestyle, which afforded me the opportunity to commit my time and resources to obtain my MBA.”

As a high schooler in Lewisville, Swarvar took a few criminal justice college courses, which eventually led to a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. But as a 20-something, he was uncertain of his career path. He was also a new father.

“There is nothing like the power of inspiration to support a spouse and a newborn child,” he said.

His father pointed him toward a job opening in dental sales, and he aced two rounds of interviews to secure the position. He now works as an account manager, helping dentists select equipment and supplies for their dental practices and advising those who want to own their own dental offices.

As his family grew and two of his three children graduated and began careers of their own, Swarvar thought about a favorite quote by Napoleon Hill, an early20th century self-help author: “The person who stops studying merely because he has finished school is forever hopelessly doomed to mediocrity, no matter what may be his calling. The way of success is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge.”

“I have wanted to pursue a graduate business degree for some time,” said Swarvar. “I could have either relaxed and had more leisure time or continued my pursuit of personal and professional growth.”

Personal betterment won out, and he enrolled in Tarleton State Online’s MBA program, which is nationally ranked and recognized for being able to complete in as few as 10 months. He is now in the final semester of his MBA journey and cannot say enough positive things about the quality and convenience of the program.

“I absolutely would recommend Tarleton State Online — it has fit well into my schedule as a father, husband and full-time employee.”

Swarvar continued: “The quality of education is excellent. The professors working with me truly were vested in my understanding of the course material, principles and theories surrounding the courses. Tarleton State Online had a systematic timeline that was easy to follow and built on the previous courses’ content, which helped facilitate a deeper understanding of the next subject matter.”

Tarleton State Online offers more than 20 undergraduate completion programs and 22 graduate degrees, all designed for ultimate flexibility and affordability to empower busy adults, working professionals and lifelong learners to unlock their potential.

In addition, 10 unique professional completion degrees allow students to convert experience into credit by recognizing the value of existing knowledge gained through professional training, certifications and technical coursework, accelerating their degree path.
