W.K. Gordon Center offers free admission to military personnel, families

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Military personnel and their families can enjoy free admission to Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas beginning Saturday, May 27, through Labor Day.

The W.K. Gordon Center is one of 2,000 Blue Star Museums across America that will offer free admission to all active military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve, and their families through Monday, Sept. 4. The effort is a collaboration of Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Department of Defense to thank service members and their families for their sacrifices.

“This is our third year to participate in the Blue Star Museum program,” said Shae Adams, assistant curator at the Gordon Center. “The program is a great way for us to connect with local military families and provide them with an opportunity to spend time together.”

The W.K. Gordon Center, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The center is located at Exit 367 on Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Abilene. For more information, visit www.tarleton.edu/gordoncenter or the museum’s Facebook page.
