STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Study Aboard Director Marilyn Robitaille will represent Tarleton State University at the National Association of International Educators Region III International Conference in Little Rock later this month.

Dr. Robitaille will offer insights about the landscape of Texas study abroad programming and one of Tarleton’s unique, student-focused opportunities.

Titled “The Long and Short of It: Short-term Programming with Semester Links,” her discussion will focus on a strategy that gives students more confidence to study abroad in semester-long, immersive programs.

By connecting some of the short-term, faculty-led programs to university exchange partner universities, Tarleton students have the opportunity to visit locations for a few weeks during the summer, and return for a full term at a later time, paying Tarleton tuition rates.

“The fact that students can participate in these programs and pay Tarleton tuition, as well as receive a $1,000 International Education tuition scholarship, makes them affordable,” Robitaille said.

Tarleton’s relationships with universities in the Czech Republic, South Korea, Japan, Spain and Italy have all built on this strategy.

“I love talking to students who’ve had such wonderful, confidence-building summer experiences and are ready for semester immersion,” Robitaille said.
