STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University’s Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery of Art opens its 2016-2017 season Monday, Aug. 29, with A Singular Sense of Urgency by Hannah Cooper McCauley.

The free exhibit is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Sept. 30.

A Singular Sense of Urgency is a series of photographs about growing up, filtered through McCauley’s experience and imagination. Inspiration for the exhibit comes from her travels across the southern U.S. as the daughter of a Baptist minister and investigates the curious nature of transition captured within the genre of magical realism.

She has exhibited her work at various venues, including the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Vermont Center for Photography, Photo Beijing 2014, and the 2014 Pingyao, China International Photography Festival.

Her work has appeared in Photo District News as well as Aint-Bad Magazine. Most recently, she was a finalist in Photolucida’s Critical Mass Top 50 competition and a Lensculture Emerging Talent Awards winner. She currently teaches photography and digital art at TMI-The Episcopal School of Texas in San Antonio.

She has a bachelor’s of fine arts from Jacksonville State University and a master’s of fine arts from Louisiana Tech University.
