STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Music, food and a full slate of activities highlight Week of Welcomes as students return to Tarleton State University campuses for the fall semester. WOW Week and T-Week (or Transition Week) feature a wide range of events over 12 days hosted by university clubs and organizations.
“It is a time for us to embrace the extraordinary and the realm of possibilities to engage students on their new journey while merging with their classmates,” said Lathes Townes, Executive Director of Campus Life and Family Engagement. “We want to create an atmosphere to ignite their Texan spirit, fueling their soul with the camaraderie that binds us together as we embark on a new year of discovery, growth and pure awe.”
The annual Color Celebration kicks everything off Sunday, Aug. 20, in the Memorial Stadium parking lot followed by an Aug. 22 street dance and Leadership Launch, both scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 23.
To help new students navigate the campus, information tents will be set up beginning the first day of WOW Week, Thursday, Aug. 24. To fill your sweet tooth, find the arrow on the campus map that identifies the Trogdon House, the site of the Aug. 27 Sundae on Sunday. Purple Snack Attack, The Big Feed and the Black Student Union Cookout also will cater to appetites large and small.
For entertainment to start the school year, WOW Week activities include DJ on the Lawn, Global Hip-Hop Immersion, Concert on the Patio featuring Chandler Pearson, and Texan Bingo.
Tarleton State’s outreach campuses will join in the fun with Welcome Back Bashes and a variety of events in Waco and Fort Worth.
