STEPHENVILLE, Texas —Tarleton State University student and National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Undergraduate Fellow Jasmin Trevino has been accepted as a proctor for Harvard’s Pre-College summer program.

Trevino, an animal science major from Cypress, has been a Tarleton residential leader for two years and has been inspired to pursue a career in student affairs after college. In December 2018, she was accepted into the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows program and was connected with The Association of College and University Housing Officers internship program where host institutions post positions and candidates can apply.

After interviewing with a dozen schools, Trevino chose Harvard University. The program gives Trevino the chance to gain practical experience in mentoring, crisis management and planning and facilitating residential activities for students.

“The internship will help me prepare for a career in higher education and allow me to develop personally and professionally,” said Trevino, “I am most excited to get a taste of student affairs at a different university, especially one as prestigious as Harvard.”

Trevino will spend seven weeks at Harvard this summer serving as a mentor, community builder and resource for the program’s participants. Trevino believes that her time as a residential leader will help her build relationships with students and professional staff as well as assisting students in their transition from high school to college.
