Tarleton, Stephenville High School Host Marine Forces Reserve Band

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The concert band of the Marine Forces Reserve Band of New Orleans will perform in the Stephenville High School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. Admission is free.

The performance, co-hosted with Tarleton State University, is part of the band’s fall Texas tour, with stops throughout the Metroplex, including the State Fair.

The Marine Forces Reserve Band was established Oct. 1, 1978, and stands as one of 10 Marine Corps field bands. It travels throughout the U.S. providing musical support for the Fourth Marine Logistics Group, Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing, Fourth Marine Division and Force Headquarters Group.

It performs over 350 concerts and at parades and ceremonies for more than eight million people annually. All of the band members are trained riflemen and fulfill the same physical fitness and combat training requirements as any other active-duty Marines.

A founding member of The Texas A&M System, Tarleton State University is breaking records — in enrollment, research, scholarship, athletics, philanthropy and engagement — while transforming the lives of approximately 18,000 students in Stephenville, Fort Worth, Waco, Bryan and online. For 125 years, Tarleton State has been committed to accessible higher education opportunities for all while helping students grow academically, socially and professionally through programs that emphasize real world learning and address regional, state and national needs.
