STEPHENVILLE, Texas—There’ll be lots to do and lots of purple at Tarleton State University’s 2017 Homecoming set Oct. 22 through 28, part of its ongoing centennial celebration as founding member of The Texas A&M University System.

This year’s theme, “Sharing Our Past, Celebrating Our Future,” is a nod to Tarleton’s rich history and a look forward to becoming the premier student-student focused university in Texas and beyond.

A Purple Out Picnic, yell contest, parade, tailgating event, bonfire and the week’s highlight—the football game between Tarleton and Western Oregon—are among festivities planned as Tarleton gears up to welcome alumni and families back to campus.

“It’s a special occasion every year,” said Alumni Engagement Director Jessica Evans. “We are always excited to welcome alumni and their families back home to Tarleton, and look forward to connecting and reconnecting with everyone.”

Events start Saturday, Oct. 21, with a 5K memorial run, followed by Sunday’s lighting of the smokestack—Ignite the Night—featuring a barbecue cook-off and live music.
