Tarleton State MSW Accreditation Reaffirmed

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s Master of Social Work program has been reaccredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Graduation from an accredited institution is required to sit for the state licensing exam.

The reaffirmation of accreditation is good for eight years.

“The reaffirmation of accreditation serves to underscore the MSW program’s commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience that prepares our learners to be leaders in the field,” said Dr. Matt Laurent, Dean of Tarleton’s School of Health and Clinical Professions. “I want to congratulate and thank our outstanding faculty, leadership and community partners for their tireless work in earning this significant achievement.”

The Master of Social Work provides an advanced level of knowledge, clinical skills and internship experiences. Completing an accredited program can be a terminal degree for students seeking a career as a clinical social worker. It also can help prepare for doctoral work for those on track to become a researcher or professor.

“The reaffirmation is a testament to the tireless efforts and unwavering commitment of the MSW faculty and students,” said program Director Dr. Tiffany Wigington. “This significant milestone underscores our continued commitment to cultivating a learning environment that fosters the success of our graduates. We look forward to seeing the program continue to grow and develop.”

An MSW equips students for a variety of opportunities, particularly clinician or administrator roles in private practice, government agencies, education, insurance and healthcare.
