STEPHENVILLE, Texas — For the second-straight year, Tarleton State University is the “Best Place to Work” in Erath County, according to readers of the Stephenville Empire-Tribune newspaper who cast ballots in the 2018 Best of Erath County Reader’s Choice contest.
The Empire-Tribune publically announced winners in its June 13 edition.
“Tarleton is honored to be selected ‘Best Place to Work’ in Erath County,” said President F. Dominic Dottavio. “Working together, our faculty and staff provide the high-quality education and overall university experience that our students deserve.
“Whether college dean, groundskeeper or student worker, every employee is a valuable asset to the university,” he said. “It is their passion, dedication and commitment to providing exemplary service that make Tarleton a truly great place to work.”
Tarleton is the largest employer in Erath County, with more than 550 faculty and 600 staff members assisted by almost 1,200 graduate assistants and part-time student workers to serve more than 13,000 students in Stephenville as well as at centers in Fort Worth, Waco, Midlothian and Texas A&M-RELLIS, and via its online Global Campus.
Students come from 233 Texas counties, 46 states and 31 countries. With a fiscal year 2018 operating budget of slightly more than $200 million, Tarleton provides an annual economic impact of more than half a billion dollars to the region.
Tarleton is made up of six academic colleges — Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Health Sciences & Human Services, Liberal & Fine Arts, and Science & Technology — and a College of Graduate Studies that together offer nearly 100 undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as a doctorate in education.
