ODK at Tarleton Inducts New Members

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Thirty-five Tarleton State University students were inducted into the national chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa during a special ceremony Friday, Nov. 18, in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center Ballroom.
Students inducted into the leadership honor society are: Carley Rae Almond, Cody Austin, Brianna Baker, Phalan Bukowski, Morgan Cavitt, Kodie Cooper, Jeremy Coulston, Megan Crow, Abby Curry, Maci Day, Savannah Driver, Emily Duncan, Megan Elston, Anyssa Flores, Jennifer Garcia, Colin Gray, Cayman Hawk, Cierra Hawk, Charley Anderson, Rachel Hitt, Cassie Jevic, Victoria Johnson, Jalynn Jureczki, Carson King, Justin Lascsak, Curtis Martin, Mary Patchett, Logan Perazzo, Mariah Ritter, Jamie Salter, Tulsi Shrestha, Tammy Thompson, Briann Wethington, Jordan Wilson and Jessica Wiltz.
Darrell Brown, executive director of Tarleton’s Department of Student Engagement, conducted the ceremony along with Erin Warner, Student Leadership coordinator, and Dr. Karley Goen, assistant professor of Communication Studies and advisor to the Tarleton chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa.
Omicron Delta Kappa is a national leadership honor society founded Dec. 3, 1914, at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. In the tradition of the idealism and leadership of George Washington and Robert E. Lee, the founders of the honor society believe that leaders of exceptional quality and versatility in the college should cooperate in worthwhile endeavors, and that outstanding students and faculty should meet together on a basis of common interest, understanding and helpfulness.
Tarleton’s chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa was established in April 2002.
Students interested in joining Omicron Delta Kappa must be involved in scholarship; athletics; campus or community service; religious activities and campus government; journalism, speech and mass media; and creative and performing arts. To qualify for membership, students must have completed 60 hours and rank in the upper 35 percent at Tarleton.
