STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University kicks off its observance of Founder’s Week on Saturday, April 15, with a daylong tailgate prior to the annual Purple and White intrasquad football game at 6 p.m.
Tailgate activities, sponsored by Campus Rec, begin at 9 a.m. at Texan Alley.
Founder’s Week continues through April 22. Highlights include the Silver Taps ceremony, Oscar P’s Birthday Bash, the Spring Concert and the 55th Annual Tarleton Stampede Rodeo.
Silver Taps at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, honors alumni, faculty, staff and friends who passed away the previous year. This year’s remembrance takes place at Alumni Island in the heart of the Stephenville campus. The public is invited.
Tarleton students begin their academic program with the Freshman Convocation and Candle Lighting Ceremony when they receive their Tarleton flame. The flame is extinguished at Silver Taps to acknowledge their journey’s completion.
