STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The organizational communication class at Tarleton State University invites the greater Central Texas community to view undergraduate research presentations at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Room 118 of the O.A. Grant Building on the Stephenville campus.
Presentations — centered around “The Millennial Recruitment Research Forum: How Fortune 500 Companies Integrate YouTube in Recruiting Practices” — also will be live streamed on the Texas Social Media Research Institute (TSMRI) Facebook page.
Students from the College of Liberal and Fine Arts and the College of Business Administration conducted research focused on recruitment of millennial employees to Fortune 500 firms through video-based realistic job previews. Commercial banks, retail, and technology businesses were represented in the study.
Student researchers are Blake Lewis, Colby Smith, Kaylee Martinez, Joel Velasquez, Matt Wood, Bailey Mason, Quanecia Fraser, Katelyn Rivera, Maddie Oliver, Franklin Brandenburg, Pamela Marquez, Greyson Henry, Kyla Clark, Tyler Benton, Cam Nellum, Lisa Henderson, Ruben Rodriguez and Michael Rodgers.
Dr. Jennifer T. Edwards, TSMRI director and professor of communication studies, mentored the students through the undergraduate research process.
A realistic job interview provides applicants with a preview of the environment, conditions, benefits and other important aspects of the prospective workplace.
The students examined the realistic job previews according to the top career elements desired by millennial job seekers — salary and benefits, professional development opportunities, purposeful work, flexible work arrangements and organizational ethos.
