STEPHENVILLE, Texas—There’s a day for giving thanks. Two days for getting deals. And, there’s Giving Tuesday—an opportunity to support Tarleton State University students as they transform into tomorrow’s leaders.

“Giving Tuesday is an opportunity for alumni, faculty and staff, parents, students and friends of the university to make a gift that supports Tarleton’s students,” said Development Director Jennifer Hawthorne. “Every gift, regardless of the amount, will make a difference.”

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the United States) and Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many people focus on holiday and end-of-year giving. Entering its sixth year, Giving Tuesday is a global day fueled by social media.

Since 2012, Giving Tuesday has grown significantly and now is celebrated throughout the world. Each year, more organizations join this cause to celebrate and promote giving amidst the consumerism of the holidays.

To donate to a Tarleton college, outreach location, scholarship, or university activity or program, go to www.tarleton.edu/givingday from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

“Kicking off the holiday season with a donation is a simple process,” Hawthorne said. “You can give from any computer or mobile device. Let’s all come together on Giving Tuesday to support Tarleton students and continue our great tradition of generosity.”
