Rynearson named dean for Tarleton’s College of Education

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Dr. Kim Rynearson has been named dean of Tarleton State University’s College of Education, effective Jan. 1. She has served in an interim role since summer.

“Dr. Rynearson brings a wealth of academic expertise and leadership experience to the College of Education,” Tarleton Provost Karen Murray said. “She has demonstrated high levels of success in research and fundraising and is well positioned to lead the college to the next level.”

With more than 20 years at Tarleton, Rynearson has served as associate dean of the College of Education, head of the Department of Psychological Sciences, associate vice president of outreach and off-campus programs, director of Tarleton’s Waco center and head of the Department of Instructional Technology and Distributed Education.

She has brought in more than $3.2 million in gifts, grants and fellowships, and authored articles in some 20 publications.

“It is an honor to be asked to serve as dean of the College of Education,” she said. “I look forward to working with faculty and staff to ensure that Tarleton continues to produce exemplary professionals.”

Rynearson has a PhD and master’s degree in experimental psychology from Texas Tech University, a master’s in adult education and distance learning from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
