FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, October 2, 2017

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Nothing brings a community together like Tarleton State University’s Homecoming Parade.

Expect floats, marching bands, horseback riders and vintage cars, along with a nod to Tarleton’s past and a look to its future as the school continues its yearlong centennial celebration as founding member of The Texas A&M University System.

The parade—following the Homecoming 2017 theme Sharing Our Past, Celebrating Our Future—takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, with a new route.

The route begins at the corner of St. Felix and Washington streets, continues east on Washington past the Tarleton campus, turns left on McIlhaney Street and ends at Vanderbilt Street. This year’s route does not take in Memorial Stadium or Harbin Drive.

The announcer’s stand will be located on McIlhaney Street in front of the Tarleton Alumni Association headquarters across from Heritage Park and the east rock gates.

Deadline to participate in the parade is 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13. No walk-ups will be accepted on parade day. To register, go to www.tarleton.edu/homecoming/parade or pick up an entry form in Room 20 of the Barry B. Thompson Student Center.

All participants must attend a pre-parade meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the student center ballrooms for staging instructions.
