STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Dr. ShaRhonda Maclin has been selected assistant vice president for Tarleton State University’s Division of Student Life following a national search. Maclin begins her new duties Aug. 1.

Maclin currently is vice president for student affairs and dean of students at McPherson College in McPherson, Kans., a private liberal arts school with an enrollment of approximately 600 students.

“Dr. Maclin brings a new perspective to student life, and her knowledge and experience will be an asset as we continue to build bridges across the university,” said Dr. Laura Boren, vice president of Tarleton’s Division of Student Life. “I am confident that she will easily transition into our division and look forward to her joining our team.”

Maclin has 16 years of experience in education. Prior to her role at McPherson College, she served as an assistant professor of education for six years. She has worked as an admissions/financial aid counselor and, early in her career, taught fourth and fifth grades and served as an administrator in a preparatory program.

Maclin earned her bachelor’s in elementary education and early childhood special education from McPherson and her master’s degree in higher education administration with a concentration in student services from the University of Oklahoma. She holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Capella University.
