STEPHENVILLE, Texas — A survey by online business publication 24/7 Wall Street places Tarleton State University in the top 10 schools nationwide with a rise in student applications.

Conclusions of the study, published in USA Today, show Tarleton seventh among the top 100 schools in America with an application increase of 131.4 percent since 2012.

“The extraordinary increase in applications to Tarleton over the past five years is indicative of how strongly our vision for success resonates with potential students,” said Tarleton President F. Dominic Dottavio. “When prospective students visit any Tarleton location, they see firsthand that faculty and staff genuinely care about them as individuals. That supportive atmosphere, an ever-expanding menu of relevant degree options and our core values create one of the best regional universities in Texas and beyond.”

24/7 Wall Street collected data from almost 600 four-year post-secondary institutions to identify the 100 colleges where applications climbed the most from 2012 to 2017.

“The results of this survey prove what we already know,” said Dr. Javier Garza, vice president of the university’s Division of Enrollment Management. “Word is spreading that Tarleton is a student-focused, value-driven institution. Students across North Texas and beyond are recognizing that Tarleton offers strong academic programs in an atmosphere conducive to earning the kind of degrees that make them highly sought-after professionals.”

The top 100 list includes schools from all over the country with at least 4,000 applicants for the 2011-12 academic year — public and private, large and small, urban and rural, non-profit and for profit, highly selective and less so.

Jumps in the total number of applicants range from 46.7 percent at California State University-San Bernardino to 377.8 percent at Grand Canyon State University in Arizona.
