Froeschle to present at Tarleton’s Hire Education Speaker Series

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University hosts its second of three Hire Education speakers Wednesday, Feb. 27, featuring labor market economist Rich Froeschle.

Froeschle is a highly regarded speaker on topics relating to the Texas economy and workforce and education programs. He will present a faculty, staff and community session at 1:30 p.m. in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Theater in Stephenville. A student session takes place at noon in Room 27 of the Thompson Student Center.

Froeschle is the former director of the Labor Market and Career Information Department of the Texas Workforce Commission. He also served as director of the Texas State Occupational Information Coordinating Committee and as a labor economist with the Texas Department of Community Affairs.

Prior to his work with state government, he conducted in-service training with the National Labor Market Information Training Institute at the University of North Texas.

He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in manpower and industrial relations from the University of North Texas, where he’s taught microeconomics, regional labor market analysis and workforce strategic planning.

His writings include five books — How Many Is Enough? A Practitioners Guide to Occupational Supply and Demand Analysis; Where the Jobs Are; Connecting the DotsWorking Texas Style; and An Atmosphere of Enterprise. He also has penned a dozen monographs, including Targeting Your Labor MarketGetting Down to Business, and The Texas Economy: An Age of Global Economic Opportunity, as well as several related essays and briefs focused on the application of labor market and career information in education policy, workforce planning and economic development.

Froeschle has made presentations at more than 470 conference events over the past decade on labor market topics. His professional specialties and interests are regional economic analysis, labor market dynamics, skill and job analysis, and the development and interpretation of labor market information, all of which have occupied his career for the past 38 years.

The Hire Education Speaker Series gives the community and Tarleton faculty, staff and students an opportunity to hear speakers present about multiple topics in higher education and the workforce.
