Featured Guests Highlight Tarleton State Wind Ensemble Concert

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Performances by special guests Dr. Floyd Richmond and Evan Holcomb will highlight Tarleton State University’s Wind Ensemble concert, set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium in Stephenville.

Dr. Richmond, an Associate Professor of Tuba at Tarleton State, joined the faculty in 2019. In addition to tuba, he teaches courses in music business and in the graduate sequence

He will perform Joseph Haydn’s “Trumpet Concerto.” 

Holcomb, a senior music performance major from Weatherford, is the winner of the 2025 Concerto Competition and is a student of Dr. Benjamin Charles. He will play Keiko Abe’s “Prism Rhapsody on marimba.

The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. David Robinson, will also perform “Sinfonia” by Zhao Tian. The work was designated as the winner of the 2022 Sousa-ABA-Ostwald Composition Contest, the highest prize awarded for concert band compositions.

Admission is $5 or free with a Tarleton State ID.
