STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Students, alumni and community members are invited to celebrate tradition and Texan spirit at the annual Tarleton State University Homecoming Parade Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. and proceeding along Washington and McIlhaney streets.
Vibrant floats, exciting performances and Tarleton State pride will be on full display, uniting the university and community ahead of the evening’s highly anticipated Texan football game against Central Arkansas.
Over 55 participants are expected to join in the parade, including Dr. James Hurley and his family, fan-favorite mascot Oscar P., and Mr. and Ms. TSU.
Attendees can also anticipate appearances by spirit organization The Purple Poo, The Sound & The Fury marching band, Texan Cheer and the Texan Stars dance team, Corps of Cadets and more student groups.
The parade route begins near the Tarleton State Baseball Complex and proceeds northeast on Washington Street before turning northwest on McIlhaney Street. Attendees are encouraged to gather on McIlhaney Street for the best view of the parade.
Announcers will be stationed at McIlhaney and Tarleton streets, sharing information on the procession.
Visiting alumni are invited to attend the breakfast and watch party starting at 8 a.m. at the Alumni House, 343 N McIlhaney St.
Those unable to attend in person can watch the parade live on Tarleton State’s YouTube channel.
