Types of Aid

The Office of Financial Aid will determine the types of aid that you can receive based on the information from your FAFSA/TASFA. You can also apply for scholarships through the Office of Scholarships or jobs (work-study) through Handshake.

Financial aid comes in several forms to help students cover the cost of attending college:

  • Scholarships – Funds you don’t have to repay, usually awarded based on academic achievement, talent, or other criteria.
  • Grants – Need-based aid that does not require repayment.
  • Student Loans – Borrowed funds that must be repaid with interest after leaving school.
  • Student Employment (Work-Study) – Part-time jobs that allow students to earn money to help pay for educational expenses.
  • Exemptions & Waivers – Reductions in tuition or fees for students who meet specific eligibility criteria.
