Biloxi Creek is undergoing a Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) to determine the appropriate aquatic life use and dissolved oxygen criteria. The UAA will also address the creek’s ongoing dissolved oxygen impairment. This analysis will provide a better understanding of current conditions and help determine whether the existing criteria need to be revised.
The study, conducted by Jimmy Millican, a project manager for the Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research (TIAER), will consist of the collection and identification of fish and benthic macroinvertebrates, habitat assessments, water chemistry and 24-hour dissolved oxygen monitoring. The data collected from this analysis will support the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in determining the appropriate criteria to be applied to Biloxi Creek.
