HUMAN SUBJECTS IRB REVIEW BOARD
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Tarleton State University is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of human subjects participating in research conducted or supported by TSU faculty, staff, and students. The IRB operates in accordance with the ethical principles outlined in the Belmont Report and the federal regulations found in 45 CFR 46, also known as “The Common Rule.”
The Office of Research Compliance supports the research community and the IRB by providing guidance, resources, and oversight. The Tarleton State University maintains an approved Federal wide Assurance, affirming its commitment to uphold the highest standards of ethical research involving human participants.

Announcement
Effective March 1, 2026, all IRB protocol submissions must be submitted through the Cayuse platform.
Please note that IRBNet will be fully discontinued on May 1, 2026.
As part of our broader transition, all human subject research study submissions are now migrating to Cayuse, moving these activities out of legacy systems and into a single, integrated environment. This change strengthens the submission and review process by standardizing required information, improving communication between researchers and reviewers, and offering clearer visibility into each study’s progress from initial submission through final approval.
Below is the link to the Cayuse platform sign‑in, along with training documents and resources to help you get started and navigate the new system effectively.
