Advanced Math Placement (Next Gen)

What the test is:

The Advanced Math Placement (Next Gen), formerly the College Level Math Placement Exam (CLMPE), is now called Next Generation Math.

Placement into the appropriate math course is based upon the score obtained on the Advance Math Placement (Next Gen), which is offered to eligible incoming Freshmen at no cost. If you have the exam proctored elsewhere, there will likely be a proctor fee.

What is on the exam:

The Next Generation Advanced Algebra and Functions Advanced Math Placement (Next Gen) exam will test the student’s knowledge and skills in various areas of mathematics. The Advanced Math Placement (Next Gen) exam will assess the student’s knowledge and skills in linear equations, linear applications and graphs, factoring, quadratics, functions, radical and rational equations, polynomial equations, exponential and logarithmic equations, and trigonometry. Since this is a placement exam, there are no calculators allowed.

Cost of the exam:

The cost of the exam is free to eligible incoming Freshmen. This exam can only be taken once.

What do you need the exam for?

Colleges will use this test to assess a student’s skill levels in various areas of mathematics. If a student shows proficiency in a subject, they may be eligible to take a higher-level math related course and can start earning credits that count towards their degree.
