Procedure to Request a Registration Override

Contact the instructor or department directly to request the appropriate registration override to enroll in the course. Search the campus department directory for the instructor’s and/or the department’s contact information. Step 1 – Receive Permission

Once you receive notification that you have been granted the registration override, you must go back to myGateway and enroll in the course. You will not be automatically enrolled in the course.Step 2 – Review Catalog

Review the catalog to familiarize yourself with any other restrictions that may be applied to the course so that you request all the applicable overrides.Step 3 – Select Add Error in DuckTrax

Select the type of Registration Add Error that is displayed while registering in DuckTrax.

Linked Course Errors

Lecture or Lab Required

This error indicates the lecture course you are attempting to register for has a lab section. You must register for both lecture and lab sections at the same time.

Level Restriction Message

This status message indicates the course you are attempting to enroll in does not match your current level. For example, if you are a Graduate student and you try to register for an Undergraduate course and vice versa. See an advisor to complete a Schedule Change/Registration Override Form.

Field of Study Restriction Message

This status message indicates the course you are attempting to enroll in is restricted to certain majors and your major, as recorded in our student information system. See an advisor to complete a Schedule Change/Registration Override Form.

Class Restriction Message

This status message indicates that the course you are attempting to enroll in is restricted to a certain classification (e.g. Freshman, Senior, etc.), as recorded in our student information system. See an advisor to complete a Schedule Change/Registration Override Form.

Closed Section Message

This status message indicates that the course you are attempting to enroll in has reached its capacity and is closed. You should search for other sections of the course, search for sections of other courses needed to fulfill your degree requirements, or contact the department offering the course (which may not necessarily be the department of your major).

Reserve Close Message

This status message indicates the course that the course you are attempting to enroll in is reserved for a certain group and you are not a member of that group. You should search for other sections of the course, search for sections of other courses needed to fulfill your degree requirements, or contact the department offering the course (which may not necessarily be the department of your major).

PREQ and Test Score Error

This status message appears when you have not met the necessary pre-requisites (test score, course, or number of hours) for the course. Please check the catalog for pre-requisite information.

Dupl CRSE with SEC-xxx Message (Duplicate Course)

This status message indicates the course that the course you are attempting to enroll in has the same subject and number of a section you have already enrolled in. You may only enroll in one section of any course. If you feel this is an error, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 254-968-9121 for further information.

Maximum Hours Exceeded Message

This status message indicates that enrolling in this course would enroll you in more than 19 hours of credit. In order to enroll in more than 19 hours in a semester, see an advisor to complete an Overload Request Form to enroll in more than 19 hours. You will be registered in the additional course when the overload form has been processed by the Registrar’s Office.

Time Conflict with (CRN Number)

This message indicates a time conflict with the CRN listed.

Campus Error

This status message indicates the course you are attempting to enroll in is restricted to a specific campus (i.e. Stephenville, Fort Worth, Waco, Distance Learner, etc). Your campus, as recorded in our student information system, does not permit you to enroll in the requested course. Please email the Office of the Registrar or call us at 254-968-9419 to confirm your assigned campus.
