Tarleton State supports a live-on campus requirement of one year for new incoming students (first time in college and freshmen). Students about to graduate or have already graduated from high school or have earned GED and have not yet attended a post-secondary institution for one long semester (i.e., Fall or Spring), are considered first-time in college (FTIC) new students.

Students who have earned college credits before graduating from high school (AP or Dual Credits) or took classes immediately after graduating from high school (during the summer), are also considered FTIC new students regardless of earned credit hours. FTIC new students are required to reside on-campus their first academic year unless requesting and receiving approval for an Off-Campus Exemption

If you are living on campus, you are required to have a meal plan, if you do not select, the meal plan 17 will automatically be chosen and added to your bill.

Summer 2026 Housing Application Details

The Summer 2026 Housing Application will open 4/1/2026 and close 6/15/2026! Student Housing Portal

Housing Assignments:

• All New Incoming FTIC (First Time in College) Students will be assigned to Centennial Hall.
• All Continuing and Transfer Students will be assigned to Integrity Hall.

All housing assignments will be made by the Residence Life Office. Students are encouraged to submit their applications early to ensure timely processing. No application fee is required to complete Summer application.

To complete your on-campus housing application, a $150.00 non-refundable application fee is required at the time of submission. Your application will not be processed or considered complete until this fee is paid.

If you are experiencing financial barriers related to the application fee, please contact the Residence Life office at housing@tarleton.edu for assistance.

It is important to register for New Student Texan Orientation – within the housing application, as it will be a required step in the housing application before you can select a room. Housing application will remain open as long as there are spaces on campus available to select for your student.

If student needs to reschedule an orientation, they would need to contact New Student Programs.

Priority Housing Application Deadline: February 12, 2026

To maximize your chances of securing your preferred residence hall for Fall 2026–Spring 2027, submit your housing application by February 12, 2026. While this does not guarantee your first-choice hall, applying by this date provides you with the best opportunity to secure your preferred residence hall priority consideration.

Housing applications for FTIC students will remain open as long as space is available, but after the deadline, assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis and options may be limited.

Off-Campus Housing Exemption for FTIC Students

Tarleton State University requires all First Time in College (FTIC) students to live on campus for their first academic year. However, students may request an off-campus exemption if they meet specific criteria.

To apply for an exemption, students must complete the Off Campus Exemption Form. Exemptions are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by Residence Life.

Exemptions to Campus Residency Requirement

All Tarleton State students living on campus are furnished a post office box. For large packages that don’t fit in your mailbox, students receive an email to their go.tarleton account advising them a package is available for pickup at the Post Office. Please visit the Thompson Student Center to receive your T-box number and your mailbox key when you arrive on campus.

The Tarleton Post Office is an approved postal delivery location and you can receive your overnight letters and/or packages with your T-box address.

IN HALL MAILBOXES – Heritage, Integrity, Traditions, Honors, Texan Hall – larger packages will be delivered to TSC Post Office.

Here are a few things that are prohibited in the halls:

• Air Fryers, Electric skillets, deep fryers, toaster ovens, grills (indoor or outdoor)
• Personal refrigerators or AC window units
• Extension cords (bring surge protector strips instead)
• Multi-plug outlet extensions
• Space heaters
• Halogen lamps, all flexible-neck lamps
• Candles, fireworks, weapons and/or ammunition
• Outside antennas
• Traffic signs
• Decorative Christmas/party lights
• Products that could damage paint/wall surfaces (e.g., nails, screws)
• Steel-tipped darts and dartboards
• Alcoholic beverages or decorative items made from alcoholic containers (regardless of age)
• Pets (exception includes a fish in a 10 gallon tank or smaller)
• Open coil heating elements, such as toasters
• Additional Micro-fridge, mini-fridge or microwave (appliances are provided)
• Any appliance or electronic device that does not have a UL listing attached to it.
