“I completed Managing Information Systems taught by Dr. Dennis Jones. This course was a robust and comprehensive overview of MIS and through the group consulting project, reflective exercises, and his sense of humor I felt the course was challenging, rewarding, and has provided a solid foundation for success in other courses. Dr. Jones was accessible, responsive to questions and clearly an expert in his field (Kieth LaChance, 2021)”.

Degree Options for International Students
Degree Options for International Students – STEM Advantage
Tarleton State University’s Department of Marketing and Computer Information Systems offers three undergraduate degrees officially recognized as STEM-designated programs by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security:
· B.A.A.S. in Information Technology
· B.B.A. in Management Information Systems
· B.S. in Computer Information Science
This STEM designation means our graduates are trained in high-demand fields that blend science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—equipping you for global career success.
For international students studying on an F-1 visa, the STEM designation provides a major career advantage: you may qualify for the Optional Practical Training (OPT) STEM extension, allowing you to work in the United States for up to 36 months after graduation—an additional 24 months beyond the standard OPT period. This extra time can be invaluable for gaining professional experience, building your network, and positioning yourself for long-term success.
Take the next step toward your future. Contact Tarleton’s International Programs Office today for guidance on applying, and explore how a Tarleton STEM degree can launch your career.
