The Periodicals & Electronic Resources Department oversees the ordering, cataloging, processing, and preservation of periodicals and electronic resources, as well as leading the library’s scholarly communication services. The Periodicals Desk is available to provide assistance throughout the year. Please see below for contact information.

Electronic Resources: The library subscribes to over 380 databases, over 93,000 e-journals, and offers 283,000 e-books. We strive to provide comprehensive coverage of the disciplines offered through Tarleton. Great places to start searching for content is Global Search and the Library Catalog. Questions, troubleshooting, or concerns regarding our electronic resources can be sent to [email protected].

Print Periodicals & Microforms: Periodicals are available from 2016 to present on the main level of the library. We subscribe to over 200 active print periodicals and maintain a large backfile of materials (print, microfilm, and microfiche) located in our Offsite Storage.  Items held at Offsite Storage may be requested at the Periodicals Desk or via the online Offsite Request Form. Requests should be made 24 hours in advance. A staff member will notify you when it is available in the library for pick-up. Microform readers are available near the Periodicals stacks.

Scholarly Communication: Scholarly Communication is defined as the system through which research and scholarship is created, evaluated, distributed, and preserved (ACRL). Services to assist faculty and students with the scholarly publishing lifecycle including open access, research metrics, and author rights have been added to the library as of Fall 2020. Additionally, we can assist with open educational resources (OER) adoption and curation.
