First Time In College Students Move-In
Reference the guide below to determine your move-in time based on your assigned residence hall. It is important to adhere to your specific reporting time to help us avoid any delays in getting you all moved-in and settled into your new home. Only reporting times for first-year students are listed here. At your designated time, report to Memorial Stadium, entrance located on Harbin St.
Vehicles should arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to their time, and within 1 hour of the designated end time for their hall floor.
As you move-in and receive your move-in folder, it is vital that you accurately complete your provided Room Conditions Sheet to sign and return to your residence hall office within 24 hours of your move-in. When filling out this form, please be as detailed as possible about the condition of your space. Being detailed on this form, prevents you from being charged damages that were not made by you.
In the first day, be sure to connect with your Residential Leader as they will be a great resource to get you connected to campus and support your needs while living in a residential facility. Each hall will have a mandatory hall meeting that will provide important information with regard to living on campus. For questions regarding move-in or living on campus you may contact Residence Life at housing@tarleton.edu or 254-968-9083.
We can’t wait to have you on campus with us for a successful 2026-2027 year!

The Texan Move-In experience is fast-paced, so it’s important to know how to pack properly to ensure your stuff is quickly placed in the right room. Avoid loose items, all items should be packed or toted. Carefully pack all items in a secure container (such as boxes, plastic totes or suitcases). Pack tightly to prevent breakage. Load as much as possible into one or two vehicles max. Additional vehicles beyond two or vehicles without items, should not go to Memorial Stadium and should instead park at a designated open green lot. Trailers and moving vans will not be allowed in the moving line and will not be unloaded by moving volunteers. The moving team will not be unloading any additional furniture the student decides to bring, example: an additional armchair or couch. Label every container with your name, residence hall, room number, and cell phone number.

It is highly encouraged for each vehicle group to pack snacks and a small ice chest with waters to stay hydrated while waiting in line to go to your residence hall. Texas can experience high heats during this time and it is important for everyone to drink plenty of water the days leading up to and at move-in. Prior to arriving at Memorial Stadium, vehicles should ensure they have plenty of gasoline and a functioning air conditioner.
Due to the heat and residential policies, Residence Life asks that all you do not bring any animals with you. Only Service Animals and approved Emotional Support Animals are allowed within the Residence Halls.
When arriving to your residence hall to unload, it is vital that one person remain with the vehicle at all times. If you are the student moving in and do not have an alternative person to park your vehicle, do not worry, the move-in team and Residence Life will ensure your items make it to your bed space!
Once at your hall, look for the check-in tent to receive your move-in folder with your room condition sheet and other important information.

Parking Services provides specific permits for each type of student (Residential or Commuter), faculty/staff, and visitors to negate the issuing of tickets and communicate where to park while on campus. Please check out the rules and regulations before parking on campus. During move-in, a majority of parking lots nearest the residence halls will be unavailable for parking or entry as those spaces will need to remain available for each day of move-in to unload during designated times. We ask that during this time you refrain from parking in any chained, barricaded, or coned off area as this is vital space for move-in. Parking lots will have signage indicating if it is closed or open for students and visitors to park in. Students and guest should refrain from parking in surrounding businesses or school campuses, it is at the discretion of these private spaces to relocate vehicles at the owner’s expense.
At no time during move-in or throughout the year should you park in a fire lane, handicap space (without an approved permit), in a striped parking pathway, or a 24-Hour Reserved space. At each residence hall there is a 24-Hour Reserved parking space for Residence Life staff to respond to emergencies; at no time should unauthorized vehicles park in these spaces. Vehicles that park in areas they are not approved to occupy are subject to a parking citation and/or relocation at the owner’s expense.
