Rules & Policies
The following policies and procedures may not cover every situation or event that may occur within our facilities. Final interpretation of rules and policies will be left to the discretion of the Department of Campus Recreation Administration in order to maintain the safety and well-being of all members.
Visitors must abide by all rules listed below while utilizing our pool facilities:
- All pool decks must remain clear in case of emergency. Bulky items or equipment placed on pool deck are prohibited.
- No running or diving.
- Respect other swimmers.
- All swimmers must be able to swim without an aid in deep water and could be subject to a swim test. Life jackets may be required on lifeguards’ discretion. ONLY U.S. Coast Guard approved lifejackets are permitted.
- Diving blocks are only for diving. No hanging on diving blocks.
- No pushing, dunking, horse play or breath-holding games.
- No food in or near the pool.
- No drinks other than water allowed in or near the pool.
- Glass containers are not allowed.
- Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
- Chewing gum is not allowed.
- Smoking, vaping/e-cigarettes & tobacco are not allowed.
- All coolers are subject to search.
- Any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs are prohibited from entering.
- No moving furniture.
- No hanging on lane dividers or handrails.
- Swim attire must be worn at all times. Only swimsuits in the pool. No athletic shorts.
- Children who are not potty trained must wear swim diapers.
- Changing/disposal of diapers around the pool area is strictly prohibited. Diaper changes are restricted to changing stations in locker rooms.
- Lifeguards have the authority to ask anyone to leave.
- All persons under the age of 17 must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
- People with open lesions, wounds or infectious diseases are not allowed in the pool.
- Inflatables, noodles, and innertubes are not allowed.
- No animals allowed in the pool area, with the exception of service animals.
- NO PDA.
- Lanes 1-3 are reserved for lap swimming.
- The head guard on shift has the right to deny service or prohibit any pool equipment that they feel does not align with facility rules and/or makes it unsafe for themselves or patrons. The head guard on shift has final say in all matters.
- Prohibited For Pool Use:
- Leggings
- Jeans
- Skirts
- Leotards
- Brazil/French Cut, thong-style, or any revealing swimwear & undergarments
- Street clothes of any kind
- Any baggy or loose-fitting clothing
- Other Rules:
- No undergarments besides pool appropriate sports bras.
- Upon leaving the Aquatic Center to enter the Recreation Center you must have on shoes, shirts and shorts before entering.
- Please dry off completely before entering the Recreation Center.
Policies & Procedures
Campus Recreation at Tarleton State University has set policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all individuals who use our facilities.
Bicycles, skateboards, hoverboards, and in-line skates are not allowed in the Rec Center. Bicycle racks are located outside of the facility for bicycle parking; skateboards, hoverboards, and in-line skates should be left at home. Campus Recreation is not liable for any stolen items; if you choose to ride anything other than a bicycle to the Recreation Center, you must do so at your own risk.
Children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the Recreation Center. Individuals who bring children under the age of 16 will be asked to leave.
- The Recreation Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Members are encouraged to store all personal belongings securely in a locker.
- Staff members are not permitted to hold equipment, valuables, or bags for members.
- Found items should be turned in at the control desk.
- Equipment found in any Campus Recreation facility will be sent to the University Police Department.
Racquetball, tennis, badminton racquets, volleyballs, basketballs, and disc golf sets can be checked out for member use. A valid member ID must be presented to check out equipment. The ID will be swiped again when the equipment is turned back in at the control desk. The equipment will be inspected upon return. If damages occur, the member or guest will be responsible for the cost of replacing the item.
Campus Recreation is pleased to offer Day Passes for $10 per day. Guests must be accompanied by a member of the Rec Center.
Campus Recreation does not allow anyone under the age of 16 to access the facility.
The Recreation Center is a place for exercise, fun, and relaxation. Abusive, vulgar, or degrading language will not be tolerated. Facilities and equipment should be used for their designated purpose.
Any individual not following appropriate policies or behaviors will be asked to leave the facility.
Rescheduling or canceling sessions must be done at least 24 hours prior to your session to avoid being charged. Before meeting with your personal trainer, be sure to thoroughly read our personal training policies before signing your contract.
Pre-purchased sessions are non-refundable. This will not be adjusted for any reason.
On June 1, 2015 Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 11 passed by the 84thTexas Legislature and known as the “Campus Carry” Law. Senate Bill 11 allows licensed holders to carry a concealed handgun throughout university campuses, beginning August 1, 2016. Read more about this legislation.
