Whether you’re a first-year student, transfer student, or new to Tarleton State, Campus Recreation is here to help you feel connected and at home on campus.
Campus Recreation is more than a gym. It’s a place to stay active, reduce stress, meet people, and try new things. From fitness classes and intramural sports to sport clubs, outdoor adventures, aquatics, and open recreation spaces, there’s something for every interest and experience level. Everyone belongs here.
Best of all, Campus Recreation fees are included in your tuition if you’re enrolled in one or more on-campus credit hours. Access is essentially free!

Before coming to the Rec

Bring your Texan Card
To check in to campus rec you must have your Texan Card with you to scan as you walk in.
Download the Campus Rec app
Having the app means you can sign into the building, sign up for group fitness classes, receive pertinent information going on at the rec and so much more.

Check Facility Hours
We have different hours for the Spring and Fall semesters. There is also new hours during the summer months or any holidays. For any changes or updates there are three places to look.
The three places are the Campus Rec app, Campus Rec Website and the @tarletonrec Instagram.
Additional Facilities Offerings

Pickleball Courts
As of January 2026, we have 2 full-sized pickleball courts for play. We include seating for players and spectators as well as pickleball paddle and ball rentals.
Esports Lounge
For students interested in gaming, we offer our esports lounge to connect with others while playing in tournaments and matches. It is located in the Thompson Student Center.

Aquatics

What we offer
We offer two pools to choose from. We have an indoor 8 lane lap pool and a seasonal outdoor leisure pool.
Opportunities
We provide the opportunity for students to become lifeguards and swim instructors to help keep our pools up and running for not only students but our whole community.

Fitness And Wellness

Group Fitness Classes
We offer a variety of free group fitness classes each week, giving students a fun and convenient way to stay active, and connect between classes in our on-campus fitness rooms. So, if you’re looking for a place to meet some new friends come out and attend one of our classes.

Personal Training Sessions
We provide affordable personal training sessions that can be purchased at rates three times lower than surrounding gyms offer. Our sessions are taught by our very own gold standard certified personal trainers. This is a great opportunity to improve yourself physically but also mentally.


Get involved…
Students can get involved beyond working out by pursuing career opportunities in Campus Rec, such as becoming a group fitness instructor or a personal to gain hands on experience and develop interpersonal skills to propel you in your future affairs.
Intramural Sports

What are Intramural Sports?
Intramural’s is comprised of fall and spring semester leagues and tournaments. They are designed for fun, participation, and social connection, rather than intense competition.
How to get involved
Once you have become a student, you can sign up for Intramural’s. After selecting the league or tournament you want, use your UID number and my gateway password for logging in.

Outdoor Pursuits

Adventure Trips
Are you the outdoorsy type? We offer opportunities throughout the fall and spring semesters to travel to state parks. Trips include transportation, food on location, entrance fees, and all equipment unless otherwise noted.
Climbing Wall
Within the Campus Recreation building we have a climbing wall. It offers climbing at heights up to 30 feet and is available to all skill levels.


Challenge Course
An offsite opportunity to work on teamwork, trust, and group dynamics. We have a low element course, a series of ground-based, physically interactive obstacles.
Sport Clubs

What are sport clubs?
Sport clubs are a student-led group, that is open to all types of skill levels. Just remember you have to be enrolled to participate.
What opportunities does it provide?
Offers opportunities to compete against other universities, travel to tournaments, represent Tarleton State and find a community of peers.
