The Sound & The Fury is the Tarleton State University Texan marching band. The Sound & The Fury is one of the largest and most spirited groups on campus and is open to all Tarleton students. Scholarships are available (students must submit a scholarship application and complete an audition) for all band students (not just music majors).

The Texan marching band performs at all home football games, one away game and at least one exhibition each season. The band typically performs at many other university events (such as: Traditions rally, Texan Tours, Homecoming bonfire and parade, Midnight Madness, and Freshman Convocation just to name a few).

The Sound & The Fury is a university course (1 credit), that meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Marching Percussion and Color Guard members rehearse on Tuesday evenings, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, to further prepare for upcoming performances. The marching percussion (drumline) is frequently requested to perform at university events (such as Midnight Madness, and the yell contest).
