Enrollment in The Sound & The Fury Marching Band is open without a placement audition.

General Information
The Tarleton band program proudly sponsors three concert bands, three jazz bands, three athletic bands, and numerous instrument-specific chamber ensembles. Enrollment in these ensembles is open to all Tarleton students, regardless of major, although placement in concert and jazz bands is by audition only.
Ensemble Audition Process
Ensemble audition music for both concert and jazz ensembles is posted each summer to the Tarleton Bands audition webpage. Auditions for these ensembles are held each year during the first two class days of the fall semester. Specific audition times by instrument and a scheduling registration portal will open on this website by the end of the first week of August.
Concert Band Auditions
Wind Ensemble: placement by audition only
Symphonic Band: can enroll w/o audition (Fall)

University Band: open enrollment/no audition
Audition music for concert band auditions is posted in mid-summer each year. University Band is currently only offered in the spring semester.

Jazz Band Auditions
Jazz Ensemble I: placement by audition only
Jazz Ensemble II: placement by audition only
Jazz Ensemble III: can enroll without an audition
Jazz Combos I & II: placement by audition only
Latin Ensemble: placement by audition only
Audition music for jazz ensemble auditions is posted in mid-summer each year. Jazz Ensemble III and Latin Ensemble may be joined in the spring semester.

Athletic Band Registration
Enrollment in The Sound & The Fury Marching Band is open without a placement audition except for those wishing to participate in colorguard. Participation in the Texan Thunder Volleyball Band and the Foul Play Basketball Band is open to all students with one year of experience in The Sound & The Fury.

Ensemble Placements
Ensemble placements from these auditions are made for the entire school year. No new auditions are held going into the spring semester, though vacancies may be filled at this time at the discretion of each ensemble director.
Ensemble Registration
All members of each Tarleton ensemble are required to register for the course associated with each ensemble during each semester of participation.
It is recommended that students auditioning for concert and jazz ensembles go ahead and register for a concert and/or jazz ensemble of your choice prior to the auditions, though this is not required. Those placing into concert and jazz ensembles will have three days after the auditions conclude to either change or add the appropriate course(s).
