Bob Glasgow Political Papers

Robert J. “Bob” Glasgow was born in 1942 in Stephenville, Texas. He graduated from Stephenville High School, and he served three years (1960-1963) in the United States Army. He received a B.A. from Tarleton State College in 1967 where he served as class president and student body president. Afterward, he received a J.D. from the University of Texas in Austin in 1970. Glasgow then started his own law firm in 1970 in Stephenville. In 1987, Glasgow was named a Distinguished Alumnus at Tarleton State University.

Glasgow served as the administrative assistant to Texas Governor Preston Smith (1969-1970). For eight years (1972-1980), he was the District Attorney for the 29th Judicial District which served Erath, Hood and Palo Pinto counties. Glasgow was then elected as one of the 31 members of the Texas Senate serving the 22nd District of Texas from 1981 to 1993 (67th – 72nd Legislature) as a Democrat.
