Dallas County Promise

Tarleton State University partners with Dallas County Promise to make college more affordable for eligible Dallas County high school graduates.

This last-dollar tuition grant covers tuition and required fees after other scholarships and financial aid are applied.

Who Can Apply

  • Graduates of a participating Dallas County high school
  • Must attend the high school for the entire senior year
  • Graduate in the current school year
  • Be admitted to Tarleton State in the top 50% of your class (or meet GPA equivalent if your school doesn’t rank)
  • Enroll full-time at Tarleton State in the fall immediately after graduation
  • Be a U.S. citizen and a Texas resident for tuition purposes
  • Family Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $85,000 or less

Important Deadlines (Fall 2026 Entry)

  • Feb 5, 2026 – Submit the Promise Path Form
  • Mar 1, 2026 – Apply for admission & complete FAFSA/TASFA
  • Aug 5, 2026 – Register for Fall 2026 classes

Renewal Requirements

To keep your Promise funding, you must:

  • Enroll in and earn at least 12 credit hours each semester
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Keep family AGI at or below $85,000
  • Complete your bachelor’s degree within 4 years
