President’s Guaranteed Scholarship Program – Master’s Degree

The President’s Guaranteed Scholarship Program aligns with the 126-year vision of Tarleton State’s founder and benefactor to provide a high-quality university education to students who otherwise might not have the chance. This includes enabling students to pursue an advanced degree which is necessary in many fields. Tarleton State University will guarantee scholarship levels to students earning a new master’s, second master’s or returning master’s degree.

Program Requirements for Master’s Students

In order to be considered for the President’s Guaranteed Scholarship Program you must complete your General Scholarships Application. Awards will be divided between fall, spring and summer semesters based on enrollment in a given semester.

Must be admitted as a new master’s, second master’s or returning master’s student and take a minimum of 3 credit hours. This will guarantee them an annual level between $750 and $3,000 as indicated in the table below.

*Students will be guaranteed renewal of the scholarship for up to 4 long semesters plus up to 2 summer semesters, with eligibility expiring 3 years after initial admission to the Master’s program. Students who are placed in probation/warning/suspension status will cease to be eligible for the scholarship.

Who is eligible to receive the Guaranteed Master’s Scholarship?

Any student who is admitted as a new Master’s student, second Master’s, or returning Master’s student is eligible to receive the Guaranteed Master’s Scholarship.

When does the Guaranteed Master’s Scholarship become available?

Students admitted for and enrolling in Spring 2026 and forward will be eligible for the Guaranteed Master’s Scholarship.

What if I just finished my Master’s degree or I am currently enrolled?

While the President’s Guaranteed Scholarship Program is being newly extended to serve Master’s students and is renewable for new students, opportunities to support continuing Master’s students will also be available.

Do I need to apply separately for this scholarship?

No!  All you need to do is complete the General Scholarship Application, and if eligible, the FAFSA.

Is the scholarship renewable for more than one year?

Yes!  The Guaranteed Master’s Scholarship is renewable for up to 4 long semesters plus up to 2 summer semesters, with eligibility expiring 3 years after initial admission to the Master’s program.  Renewal is guaranteed as long as students remain in good academic standing.

Can I combine this scholarship with other aid (assistantships, federal loans, external fellowships)?

You can receive other scholarships and might qualify for more than the guaranteed amount. The guaranteed amounts can be funded partially or completely by institutional and/or endowment funds.

Does the scholarship apply if I am admitted conditionally or part-time?

Yes! If you are enrolled in at least 3 hours of coursework, you will be eligible for the Guaranteed Master’s Scholarship.

How is scholarship disbursement determined?

Your scholarship disbursement each semester is determined by the number of credit hours you’re enrolled in as of the official census date.
