Applications and Instructions

Spring 2026 applications should be completed via the Educator Portal. Additional portal instructions will be provided during block courses.

For Elementary Teacher Education ETED Majors:

  • TEA ID – Before applying for the Teacher Education Program, you must create a TEA ID. You will need to create your account and be assigned a TEA ID# that you will supply when you apply to the Teacher Education Program. Click How to set up your TEAL (Texas Education Agency Login) Account for step by step instructions.
  • Faculty Mentor – Meet with your faculty mentor for guidance on completing the departmental screening process as well as information regarding any additional departmental requirements. They will assist with determining the GPA using the Checklist for Application Packet. Your department will take care of the departmental screening for you following the application. 
  • Apply! – Apply for the Teacher Education Program! Go to: https://educators.tarleton.edu/login/
    • Sign in using your university credentials.
    • Click Admissions
    • Choose the ETED application
      • Tarleton Teacher Education Program – Elementary Teacher Education ETED
  • Click Start Application
  • Please use the checklist you completed with your faculty mentor to help you answer questions about your GPA and course requirements. You do not need to submit a Verification of Successful Completion of Departmental Screening. Your department will take care of that.

Accept! – Just before your block 2 semester, you will receive notification of your acceptance from a system generated email from the portal: ‘Tarleton Educators Portal’ with an email address of no-reply@mail-aep.education.tamu.edu.  Here, you will receive instructions to accept your offer of admission.  

For Secondary Teacher Education SEED Majors:

      • Tarleton Teacher Education Program – Secondary Teacher Education SEED
  • Click Start Application
  • Please use the checklist you completed with your faculty mentor to help you answer questions about your GPA and course requirements. You do not need to submit a Verification of Successful Completion of Departmental Screening. Your department will take care of that.

For Secondary/All Level: 6-12 Ag Food & Nat Resources, 7-12 Certificates (not SEED), All Level Art, Music, PE, Spanish, Theatre (not Special Ed)

You will need to create your account and be assigned a TEA ID# that you will supply when you apply to the Teacher Education Program.   • Certificate Plans –  Go to the Certificate Plans page, scroll down to Secondary / All Level Certificate Plans and match the year tab to your degree catalog year. An Excel spreadsheet will open. Enter in all letter grades for every course you have taken, even if it is a D or F. Make a note if you are retaking a course. You will need to go over your certificate plan with your faculty mentor and have a copy ready to upload with your application.
  • Faculty Mentor – Meet with your faculty mentor to discuss your certificate plan and academic record. You will receive guidance on completing the departmental screening process as well as information regarding any additional departmental requirements. You or your department should submit a Verification of Successful Completion of Departmental Screening form and all documentation to the Certification Officer at amusick@tarleton.edu. Verification is due no later than the Friday of Commencement unless otherwise posted on the admissions calendar.
  • Apply! – Apply for the Teacher Education Program! Go to: https://educators.tarleton.edu/login/
    • Sign in using your university credentials.
    • Click Admissions
    • Choose one of the following applications:
      • Tarleton Teacher Education Program – 6-12 / 7-12 (advised outside COE)
      • Tarleton Teacher Education Program – All Level Art, Music, PE, Spanish or Theatre EC-12
  • Click Start Application

Important Reminders

  • Beginning with Summer 2017 applications, students admitted into the Teacher Education Program will be charged a TEA ASEP Technology Fee in addition to the $35 application fee. The application fee is charged each time a student makes application; the TEA ASEP Technology fee is only charged at the point of admission.
