Need help, but can’t visit the Math Achievement Center? Expand the questions below to learn more about eligibility, how to request a session, and what to expect.
❓ Who can use virtual tutoring?
Virtual tutoring is available to:
- Tarleton Today (Dual Enrollment) students
- Students enrolled in online degree programs
- Students at another campus besides the Stephenville campus
Students enrolled in any in-person Tarleton course should use the Math Achievement Center’s free drop-in tutoring services.
❓ What can I expect during a virtual tutoring session?
Virtual tutoring provides academic support while tutors continue assisting students in the Math Achievement Center.
Tutors can:
- Answer questions
- Help you get started on problems
- Explain concepts
- Provide guidance as you work
Virtual tutoring is not a private one on one tutoring appointment. Tutors will assist both virtual and in person students throughout the session
❓ How do I request virtual tutoring?
Email achievementcenter@tarleton.edu with the required information listed below.
Include the following information:
- Full Name
- Tarleton UID
- Student Type (Tarleton Today or Fully Online)
- Course Prefix and Number (Example: MATH 1314)
- Requested Tutoring Date & Time (Make sure you check the Best Times first)
❓ When do I need to submit my request?
Requests may be submitted at any time.
To be considered:
- Tuesday through Friday tutoring: Submit your request by 5:00 pm on the previous business day.
- Monday tutoring: Submit your request by 2:00 pm on Friday.
Requests received after these deadlines will be considered for the next available tutoring day.
❓ How can I prepare for my virtual tutoring session?
To help ensure a productive virtual tutoring session, please be prepared with:
- A quiet workspace with minimal distractions.
- A reliable internet connection.
- A working microphone and camera.
- A way to write and share your mathematical work (paper and pencil, a tablet, or another method your tutor can easily view).
- Your course materials, assignment, and any questions you have.
- Any work you have already attempted on the problems.
Being prepared before your session begins allows tutors to spend more time helping you understand the mathematics and less time troubleshooting technology or locating materials.
