Starting your Freshman year at college can be nerve-wracking. Luckily Tarleton has a 4-day introduction program called T-Week or Transition Week to help settle those nerves and prepare you for the first day of class.
T-Week takes place Sunday, August 18 – Wednesday, August 21. Sunday night begins T-Week with a kick-off rally. You will attend all of T-Week with your residence hall. This is a great opportunity to get to know your roommate and those living in your hall. T-Week also helps you get to know more about Tarleton State’s history and traditions, gets you familiar with the resources available to you on campus, and prepares you to start classes. With events such as Class Schedule Tours, you will feel prepared and confident for your first day of classes.
T-Week is not just all about academics. There is also a multitude of fun events that will help you and the people in your hall get to know each other better. You can meet this year’s volleyball team at the volleyball block party and enjoy food and games with your friends. At the Yell Contest, you will get to see the winning group from each duck camp compete. If your duck camp wins, you get a prize! Both of these events will take place on Monday, August 19th.
Finally, T-Week wraps up with a very important Tarleton State tradition, Convocation. Convocation is a beautiful ceremony, that will be held on Wednesday, August 21st, where you light your flame to become an official member of the Tarleton State Family. You are surrounded by the friends you have made throughout the week. This is one of my favorite memories from freshman year.
I highly encourage you to make the most out of your T-Week by attending all the activities, putting yourself out there, and making new friends. Not only will this help set you up for the school year, but it will lend itself to memories that will last a lifetime.
