Staying Active After High School

Not every high school athlete becomes a college athlete but every high school athlete can find a way to stay active in college! Or maybe you weren’t an athlete in college, but you want to get active now!

Tarleton State University makes it easy to get active on campus!

Tarleton’s Campus Recreation Center is where you’ll find the weight room, basketball courts, racquetball courts, the climbing wall, and the aquatic center! There are also rooms throughout the building used for group fitness classes like yoga, cycling, dance, HIIT, and more!

The Rec is typically open Monday-Friday(6 a.m.-11 p.m.), Saturday(10 a.m.-8 p.m.), and Sunday(10 a.m.-11 p.m.).

For those who are more hesitant to go to the gym, the live count of people at the gym will tell you when there are the least amount of people there!

The Aquatic Center is a new facility on Tarleton’s campus! The Aquatic Center has both a large indoor pool and an outdoor pool that includes cabanas and a tanning area. Other outdoor activities include: water basketball/volleyball and group fitness classes.

The Aquatic Center is open Monday-Thursday(6-8am & 1-7pm).

Tarleton offers plenty of intramural sports including: Flag Football, Volleyball, Softball, Soccer, Basketball, Sand Volleyball, and other intramural tournaments. There are also plenty of club sports to get involved with too! If you played one of these sports in high school, maybe this is the place for you!

Outdoor pursuits provides students with opportunities to participate in more outdoor activities by hosting adventure trips(like kayaking or hiking), a challenge course, the climbing wall, and more! Outdoor pursuits is also the place to check out outdoor gear for your camping trips and other outdoor activities!
