Pay the application fee:
The $50 non-refundable application fee is required for all applicants, regardless of prior acceptance, admission, and/or enrollment in courses at Tarleton. Fee Waivers are available.

Submit your transcripts:
Students must request that their high school sends their official transcript to us. If you took any dual credit courses, you will need to send the official college transcript to receive credit. If a transcript is sent prior to high school graduation, a final transcript is required after graduation.

Paying for College
Scholarships
Tarleton has resources that can help you pay for college and follow your dream of attending school out of state. If you are awarded at least a $1,000 competitive scholarship, you could qualify for in-state tuition!
Tarleton launched a Guaranteed Scholarship Program that awards students in the top 50% of their class with guaranteed, renewable, scholarships ranging from $500-$2500 a semester. If you qualify for a GAP award or a combined GAP and private scholarship award of at least $1000, you could be exempt from paying out-of-state tuition.
Financial Aid
At Tarleton, 85% of students earn some sort of financial aid. Our Office of Financial Aid helps you apply for, accept and manage federal, state, and university funding to achieve your educational goals as a Tarleton Texan.

FAQ:
Am I considered an out-of-state student?
You will be considered an out-of-state student if you have or are completing High School in another state and you are a legal resident in another state other than Texas.
How long do you need to live in Texas to be considered a Texas resident?
Students must establish domicile and maintain a residence in Texas for 12 months leading up to enrollment in order to be considered a Texas resident.
Do I have to take the TSI?
This is a Texas requirement, but many states have a similar college placement test. The TSI or Texas State Initiative is required for students to complete before the start of their semester. The TSI is a college placement test that helps us place you in courses that you will succeed in! You can be exempt! See exemptions here:
Do out-of-state students qualify for scholarships and financial aid?
Yes, all out-of-state students have access to scholarships, both university and private scholarships. Some state aid may be provided for eligible students as well.
Is there an out-of-state tuition waiver I can receive?
Out-of-state students who receive a competitive scholarship from Tarleton, for at least $1000, may qualify for an in-state tuition rate.
