“My greatest accomplishment was being able to find my passion away from track & field. I was a runner for most of my life including my time at Tarleton and I’m glad I was able to find my love for cameras in the latter stage of my career.”
Dahmir Pearson
Tarleton Alumni, Class of 2022
Dahmir Pearson, a Chester, Pennsylvania native and Tarleton State alumni, pursued his Bachelor’s in Kinesiology while also serving as a highly decorated member of the Tarleton State track and field team.
Pearson’s career accolades include him earning the All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) second team honors in 2021 and ranking eight in Tarleton State history in the 600 yard. Despite his many contributions, Pearson expressed that being on the team greatly impacted his life.
“Being on the track and field team saved my life. I wouldn’t have been able to afford school without it. I’m forever grateful for all the coaches over the years there that believed in me,” Pearson shared.
After earning his degree and crossing the stage in May 2022, Dahmir began his full-time career as a Content Producer. In his role, Pearson creates content for athletes, musicians, businesses and events to help grow their brands. He has worked with various artists including Latto, Mariah The Scientist, Summer Walker, Gucci Mane and Flo Milli.

“Tarleton helped me learn to adapt to different scenarios. Being around different crowds and cultures at Tarleton gave me an introduction of what was to come in my career. To see my work you check out my social media follow @deewith_thelens on all platforms,” Pearson said.
Aside from creating content, Pearson was recently featured in the Cactus Jack x Travis Scott Jumpman Jack commercial that aired during the 2024 Grammys.
However, Dahmir’s greatest accomplishment, to date, was when he got the opportunity to film for the 2022 World Games where he had the chance to create content for each country that participated in the Olympic event.
In addition to being a full-time Content Producer, Pearson works as a journalist for Respect My Region, a lifestyle and music platform dedicated to serving local brands and creatives while upholding their “family over everything” motto.
“My favorite part about my job is the experience! I always am amazed being in spaces where at a point I dreamed to be in my career. I always try to soak in each opportunity I’m given,” Pearson said.
Getting involved on campus, whether that be by joining a sports team or club, can positively impact any Texan’s life post-grad. By building connections and fostering relationships, you might find that the original path you had in mind is simply a stepping stone to a brighter future.
“I chose to attend Tarleton State because it was the only college that felt like home when I visited. The staff, students, athletics, all accepted me for who I was. I wouldn’t be who I am today without attending. Tarleton is a school that allows you to find yourself in your time there. Attending this university is truly a once in a million experience,” Pearson shared.
