Chi Sigma Iota
Chi Sigma Iota, Counseling Academic & Professional Honor Society International, was created in 1985 for individuals who were working towards developing their identity as a professional counselor. This honor society was founded in order to promote academic success, professional excellence, and identity within:
- Graduate students in counseling
- Counselor education and supervision programs
- Counselor educators
- Professional counselors
Chi Sigma Iota is an organization of like-minded individuals; committed to research, service supporting human dignity, and fostering wellness for a healthier society.

Membership Fee
Current members of Chi Sigma Iota are required to pay their Chapter Membership Dues by the first meeting of every Fall Semester Pay Chapter Membership Dues

Chi Sigma Iota – Theta Sigma Upsilon Chapter
The Tarleton State University chapter, Theta Sigma Upsilon, affords students the opportunity to get to know your professional peers and to support the professional counselor community. Most Theta Sigma Upsilon activities are open to all students in the Department of Counseling. If you are interested in joining or participating in Chi Sigma Iota events, please contact the Theta Sigma Upsilon chapter faculty advisor: Dr. LaShondra Manning.
Pre-Requisite to join Chi Sigma Iota – Theta Sigma Upsilon Chapter
- Complete at least one full-time semester at a CACREP- or CORE-accredited program;
- Maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better;
- Deemed promising for endorsement as a professional counselor whose ethical judgment and behavior will be exemplary.
- And receive a letter of invitation to membership indicating that you meet the high standards of Chi Sigma Iota.
