Welcome to Spring 2022!

Dear Tarleton Family,

Welcome to spring 2022! It’s a great time to be a Tarleton Texan and to make your mark on the world. We have so much in store this semester.

Founder’s Week kicks off April 18 (think Homecoming 2.0) featuring May Fete, the crowning of Lord and Lady Tarleton, and a birthday bash for the iconic Oscar P. A spring Purple and White football game, tailgating and a concert complete the celebration. It’s sure to be a fantastic time.

This spring we also will celebrate opening our NCAA Division I Aquatics Center on the Stephenville campus, and we’ll break ground in Fort Worth for the 100,000-square-foot Interprofessional Education Building that will propel our nationally recognized health sciences and kinesiology programs.

Renovation is underway of several key buildings on our main campus — including the Joe W. Autry Agriculture Building, the Tarleton Center and Moody Hall — and design for our first parking garage, at North Saint Felix and West Washington streets, has begun. The former Hydrology Building is being reimagined as home to Athletics Administration and a tutoring center for student-athletes.

Whatever the season, our expert faculty and student researchers will continue to impact our region, our state and our nation with life-changing breakthroughs, as befits our new designation as a Carnegie R2 institution. The elevated status of Doctoral Universities: High Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education becomes official next month, putting us among 132 universities so recognized nationwide.

More students are finding Tarleton a destination of choice as spring enrollment flourishes. Significant support is in place to help you pursue your dreams and experience campus life. No other university in the state can match our commitment to its students. Not one.

And to protect our One Tarleton community, we will continue providing free weekly COVID-19 testing and support for vaccine clinics. Initial vaccinations and boosters will be offered next Tuesday (January 18) to students, faculty and staff. Details to come.

I look forward to seeing you this semester at all of our campuses as we continue our quest to become the premier comprehensive regional university in the nation.

As always, bleed purple, and welcome back!
