Why Choose This Concentration?
The Pre-Physical Therapy / Pre-Occupational Therapy concentration examines how the brain, nervous system, and body work together to influence movement, coordination, and everyday functioning. Through coursework in neuroscience and related sciences, you’ll develop an understanding of the biological processes underlying motor control, sensory processing, and human performance while preparing for further study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and related health professions.
The concentration is designed to meet prerequisite requirements for Tarleton State’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) programs. It also satisfies the coursework prerequisites for many other DPT and OTD schools in Texas. However, admission requirements vary by institution. Carefully review the prerequisites for each program of interest and work with an academic advisor to plan coursework and ensure requirements are completed on time.
