Equine Internship Program Student Opportunities

Students completing the Equine Certificate program at Tarleton State University are required to complete an equine-focused internship. The Tarleton State Equine Internship Program strives to streamline the application process by matching potential employers with qualified students seeking equine internships in various disciplines and focus areas.

Requirements for Students to Meet Internship Eligibility

  • Overall GPA of at least 2.3 or Department Head approval.
  • Successful completion of writing proficiency.
  • Visit with internship employer and develop an outline of goals and expectations for the student.
  • Approval of internship by supervising faculty and determination of course credits to be earned prior to enrollment.

Student Responsibilities

  • Perform the duties as agreed upon by the internship coordinator and the employer/supervisor.
  • Abide by all the rules and regulations of the employer.
  • keep a weekly log of all duties/work performed. This log will include duties, impressions, contacts, and conferences with the supervisor (if applicable).
  • Have the supervisor complete a midterm and final evaluation form.
  • Complete an internship report at the end of the internship experience. (Must be submitted within two weeks after completion of internship work).
  • Development of professional and applicable skills.
