Equine Internship Program Host Partners

Are you interested in providing applicable knowledge to students wanting to advance their skills in the equine industry?

The Tarleton State Equine Science Program is looking to partner with employers and enterprises to match potential students with your operation.

Employer Responsibilities

  • Interview student(s) applying for internship.
  • Outline a projected work assignment schedule, providing a variety of meaningful educational experiences.
  • Assign a Company/Organization supervisor who will provide guidance, direction, and constructive feedback for the student.
  • Provide a safe workplace and advise the student of any intrinsic dangers associated with the placement.
  • Contact the respective internship coordinator if special problems develop.
  • Complete a midterm and final evaluation form of the student’s performance.
  • Confer with the respective internship coordinator regarding the grade for the internship experience.
  • Assure adequate time is available during normal working business hours for the company/organization supervisor and student to conduct consultation, conferences, instruction, and feedback.
  • Assure adequate time is available during normal working business hours for the company/organization supervisor and student to meet periodically with the respective internship coordinator or university supervisor when they visit for consultation and appraisal of progress.
  • If appropriate or applicable, make arrangements with the student for compensation for work performed, reimbursement of work-related expenses incurred other than to and from work.

Semester Deadlines for Host Application:

Fall Intern Placement – March 1

Spring Intern Placement – August 1

Summer Intern Placement – January 1
