Accreditation
The Department of Counseling was recently awarded national accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) for our M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As such, all of our curriculum and standards for the program are aligned with CACREP standards.
A note: Our M.S in School Mental Health Counseling and our Ph.D. In Counseling are aligned with CACREP accreditation.
Why CACREP Matters
- It is the recognized training standard for counselors by the Institute of Medicine and the Veteran’s Administration
- It promotes a unified identity as professional counselors and counselor educators.
- Its curricula content areas are the require educational training for counseling licensure in most states, making CACREP-accreditation a pathway to portability.
