Fernando Fonseca , First Generation Transfer Student
Fernando Fonseca is a proud first generation transfer student here at Tarleton State University.
Originally from Hico, Texas, Fonseca knew that Tarleton State would be the perfect home due to its proximity. He officially became a Tarleton State Texan in the Spring of 2025.
What degree program are you pursuing? What is your anticipated graduation year?
“I am a social work major expected to graduate in May 2027.”
Since transferring, what has been your greatest accomplishment? How have you gotten involved on campus?
“Since transferring to Tarleton, I’ve met so many new people and I started attending the Baptist Student Ministries (BSM).”

What do you hope/plan to do post-grad?
“I plan to pursue my master’s degree after I graduate!”
Why did you choose to attend Tarleton State?
“In addition to being close to home, I felt like the Lord was calling me to Tarleton State University!”

What would you tell prospective/incoming students who might be thinking about transferring?
“I would tell other transfers to get involved, go meet people! Never be afraid to ask questions or make friends. Tarleton has a great community. I didn’t attend college immediately after finishing high school but I am so thankful that I’m here now.”
